Responsible Gambling
TipHub is for adults aged 18 and over. This page explains how betting works over time, how to tell when it has stopped being entertainment, and what you can do about it.

Strictly 18+
You must be 18 or older to use TipHub or to bet with any Nigerian bookmaker. We close accounts we believe belong to minors and delete the data behind them. If you know of an account held by someone under 18, tell us at compliance@tiphub.com.ng.
The part most tipping platforms leave out
Bookmakers price markets with a margin built in. That margin is how they make money, and it means that across enough bets, the expected result for a bettor is a loss. This is not a matter of skill or discipline — it is arithmetic, and it applies to everyone.
Accumulators make it sharper, not softer. Each leg you add multiplies the potential return, but it also multiplies the bookmaker's margin. A five-leg accumulator is a worse bet than any single leg in it, even though it pays more.
What a strong win rate on TipHub does and does not mean. It means a creator's published codes settled well over the period we measured. It does not mean they have solved anything. Records that look remarkable over twenty codes are routinely produced by chance alone, and a good run is followed by a bad one more often than people expect.
We publish verified histories so that you can discount people who claim results they never had — not so that you can find someone whose picks are safe to follow. Nobody's are.
Signs that it has stopped being entertainment
Betting is a form of paid entertainment, and it is fine to spend money on entertainment. The problem starts when it stops working that way. Any of these is worth taking seriously:
- You are betting more than you decided to, or more often than you meant to.
- You have bet to win back money you lost — the single most reliable predictor that losses will get bigger.
- You have used money meant for rent, food, school fees, or someone else's needs.
- You have borrowed money to bet, or sold something to fund a bet.
- You hide how much you bet, or lie about it to people close to you.
- You feel anxious, irritable or low when you are not betting.
- Betting is affecting your sleep, your work, your studies, or your relationships.
- You have tried to stop or cut down and could not.
If several of these are true, the most useful thing you can do today is put a hard control in place rather than rely on intending to do better.
Controls that actually work
At your bookmaker — the strongest option
Your bookmaker holds your money, so its controls are the ones that bite. Every major Nigerian bookmaker offers some combination of these in account settings:
- Deposit limits — a ceiling per day, week or month. Increases usually take effect only after a cooling-off period, which is the point.
- Time-outs — lock the account for a set stretch, typically 24 hours to six weeks.
- Self-exclusion — close access for months or years. It cannot normally be reversed early, which is exactly what makes it effective.
On your own devices
- Blocking software that covers betting sites across every browser and app on the device.
- Removing saved cards and bank details from betting accounts and browsers.
- Turning off promotional email and push notifications from bookmakers.
On TipHub
- Unfollow or mute creators whose posts prompt you to bet more than you planned.
- Stop a creator subscription renewing, or close your account entirely, by emailing privacy@tiphub.com.ng — see below. Note that closing your TipHub account does not close any bookmaker account, so do that separately.
Getting help
Talking to someone helps, and doing it early helps more. If betting has become a problem for you or for someone close to you:
- Your bookmaker's self-exclusion tools — SportyBet, Bet9ja, BetKing and 1xBet each operate deposit limits, time-outs and self-exclusion. These are the fastest controls available to you, because they stop the account you actually bet with.
- Gamblers Anonymous — International fellowship with an online meeting directory.
- Someone you trust — a friend, a family member, a doctor. Problem gambling is sustained by secrecy, and saying it out loud to one person takes a surprising amount of its power away.
What we hold ourselves to
- We do not allow anyone under 18 on the platform.
- We prohibit creators from claiming guaranteed returns, sure bets, fixed matches or inside information, and we remove content that does. The full list is in our Creator Terms.
- We prohibit content that frames betting as income, as a way to clear a debt, or as a solution to financial difficulty.
- We publish complete performance histories, including losses. Creators cannot delete losing tickets to improve how their record looks.
- We do not run advertising aimed at children or at people who have self-excluded.
- We act on content reports within 24 hours, and within 4 hours for the most serious.
Closing your TipHub account
Write to privacy@tiphub.com.ng from the address on your account and ask us to close it. We will confirm what is deleted and what we must retain — our Privacy Policy sets that out in full.
Closing your TipHub account does not close or self-exclude any bookmaker account. If you want to stop betting, the bookmaker is where the control has to be applied.
